I'm locked out in Canterbury right now, what do I do?
Ring 07395 351 094. Morgan will give you an honest arrival time, usually 10-20 minutes in the city centre, Wincheap, St Dunstan's, Hales Place or around the University. He tries non destructive entry first, so in nearly every case your cylinder, handle and door furniture are left as they were.
How quickly can a locksmith reach me in Kent?
MC Locksmiths is based in Canterbury. For Canterbury and the surrounding areas, arrival is typically within 15-30 minutes of your call. Further out in the wider Kent area it can take up to an hour, when Morgan is not already on another job. Ring 07395 351 094 and you speak to Morgan himself.
Do you take emergency callouts 24 hours a day?
Yes. Calls are answered around the clock, every day of the year, bank holidays included. The rate depends on the time: £90 up to 5pm, £120 after 5pm and £150 after 10pm. Morgan agrees the price with you before any work starts.
How much does a lock change cost in Canterbury?
A standard lock change is £120, supplied and fitted. A high-security TS007 1-star cylinder is £135 and a 3-star cylinder £155, both supplied and fitted. BS3621 5 lever mortice locks start from £170. Every price is agreed before any work starts, and the full list is on the pricing page.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
It depends on the job and the time of day. The standard rate is £90 up to 5pm, £120 after 5pm and £150 after 10pm. Whatever the job, Morgan tells you the price and agrees it with you before any work starts.
Can I visit you or get keys cut at your address?
No. MC Locksmiths is a mobile locksmith service: Morgan comes to you. There is no shop, counter or walk-in key cutting at the Canterbury address, so please call or WhatsApp rather than travelling there.
Will getting me back in damage my door or lock?
Very rarely. Non destructive methods such as picking, bypass techniques and letterbox tools come first, so your cylinder, handle and door furniture are normally left intact. Drilling is the last option, and only happens with your written agreement.
Which locks and cylinders do you fit?
Anti snap cylinders are TS007 rated, up to 3★ (Sold Secure Diamond). Mortice locks are BS3621 Kitemarked. uPVC multipoint gearboxes are either genuine manufacturer parts or come from UAP, Yale and ERA. All of it is fitted to professional standards and covered by up to 12 months parts and labour warranty.
Do you work for landlords and commercial properties?
Yes, it is a regular part of the job: master-keyed suites, restricted keyways, HMO lock changes, changeovers between tenancies, re-securing after an eviction, work on managed estates, and panic bars and fire exit hardware.
Do you replace car keys?
MC Locksmiths doesn't replace car keys, but Morgan may be able to point you to a trusted local auto locksmith.
Is MC Locksmiths a national franchise?
No. MC Locksmiths is an independent Canterbury business. Morgan started it and still runs it himself. The person you speak to is the person who does the work, and his is the only name on your warranty.
